A trip to Lahij
Lahij is in the mountains of the Ismayilli district in northern Azerbaijan. From Baku to the district is a few hours' drive, and then the road climbs into the mountains along a scenic switchback beside a gorge. The journey itself is worth the trip.
It is most convenient to come by car or on a tour. The road is mountainous, so it is best to plan the trip for the warm season and good weather.
Almost everyone takes home a handmade copper souvenir from Lahij — a cup, a plate or a pitcher. The trip is easy to combine with other places in the Ismayilli region and the north of the country.
